Adding Color LED Light Strips to the RV Exterior

Having more light where you need it is always a good thing, and many LED (light-emitting diode) strips deliver illumination where you want it. The strips are easy to use and install, and because of the durability of LED lighting, they are waterproof, rugged and long-lasting.

LED technology uses less energy, lasts longer and offers a quality of light that is more pleasing to the eye. A 7-Color LED Light Strip is a fun way to add more color to the outside of your RV.

The 7-Color LED Light Strip offers colors ranging from white to a deep blue, with green, red and yellow in between. This color strip can be programmed to fade or step through the colors.

Light strips can be trimmed to create custom lengths and the system comes with a remote control with a dimmer feature.

To attach the strips, 3M pressure-sensitive adhesive secures the light strips to your RV. The first step to installing the LED strips is to determine where you plan to install the strips, and there needs to be a 120-volt AC outlet within 30 feet of the install.

The power supply and controller needs to be in a dry location. To prepare the surface, wipe the area where the light strips are going to go with an included alcohol wipe, then press the strip firmly.

To add electrical power, connect the included 25-foot white cord to the controller, following the installation directions. All you have to do is match the tags on the color wires on the cord to the appropriate terminal.

Next, plug the connector on the opposite end to the LED strip. Use shrink tubing if the connection is going to be exposed to the elements and weather.

Finally, route the white cord to the 120-volt AC outlet, then plug in the power supply and away you go with brilliant lighting. The remote control turns the lights on and off, and can also be programmed for pulsing, fading and steady lights.

In addition, there are other installation options, and your RV dealer can provide the best guidance.
