RV Central Vacuum – INTERVAC DESIGN’S MUST-HAVE PRODUCT – REVIEW BY DOUG CURTIS, EDITOR

Intervac Audio Transcription

Doug: Hello everybody, this is Doug Curtis with NetworkRV. We’re here today with Susan … from Intervac Design please say hello Susan.

Susan: Good morning, Doug.

Doug: I’m happy to have Susan here today because we’re talking about an important problem that everybody has when you’re going RVing or camping and Susan takes care of that problem and that problem is dirt.

So, we’re talking about interior dirt. Dirt that is inside your RV because you’re camping.  You are outside. You’re having a lot of fun and that’s what is all about with your RV. It’s just that she has a solution. For the last twenty years, their family run business has been very successful in helping RVers deal with this common everyday problem that we have in our homes as well as when we go RVing. They manufacture all their central vacuums in Palm City, Florida.  I think probably since everybody’s familiar with dirt, I’ll just tell you briefly what our agenda is going to be today.

We’re going to take about three, four or five minutes and try to give you a brief overview. Then, we’re going to dive down deeper into some actual success stories, case studies and examples of why we feel that you as a consumer or a dealer or OEM could benefit from this product interview. Many times, people are not educated about a product. As we say here, Making Smart Buyers Smarter is what we’re all about and it’s all about education., Susan, I know that you have that product that’s sitting there in front you which is that black box and I wonder if you might just tell us about your product. This is a central vacuum. Please point out the different aspects of that product.

Susan: Okay, so what we’ve done in providing this central vacuum cleaner that’s suitable for RVers is we thought about the space concerns. One of the problems when you travel in your RV and in order to keep this as clean as you would have at home, you have got to either have a canister vacuum or maybe a stick vacuum cleaner, but all these are space hogs. We looked at a way to shrink a vacuum cleaner, making it easy, to give you a lot of installation options. The end result is this sitting here.

It’s just twelve inches wide and six inches high and six inches deep, so you can take this, and you can put it into the storage compartment and tuck it up under your RV coach. You can put it in the closet. You can put it at the foot of the bed. We also provide you with an 8-feet long hose that stretches 40 feet.

Doug: Okay. Well, right now as we’re looking at the front of the product.  I see that you know, it’s a black box and has that blue label on there. And there’s also a wire and a cord. Can you explain how that actually connects once it is installed? Can you describe, and if you can lift up that wire that is in the front with the white cord, is that part of it?

Susan: This is the five and the half foot electric cord. Also, you can hard wire anything that we make.  This label would be removed, it’s for retail shoppers because you don’t really recognize a small black central vacuum versus a conventional vacuum cleaner.

So, when you’re doing the installation, you just pull this front cover completely off, you see there is four screws in each corner and after you make your cut out, you put your Intervac vacuum cleaner into your cut out like you put in the kitchen island or down in the RV basement. Here is the size of the hole to be cut out, then you put the cover back on and you just install your central vac. It is that easy.

Doug: Okay, before you put that in there though, can you explain that white bag there please? Because I don’t think some people will understand.

Susan: Yes, this bag is going to hold all the dirt you’re going to vacuum. You plug it into your house into the front right here and into the bag. You’ve got another filter in here and you’re not going to have to worry about anything getting back in into the hole. When the bag is old you simply remove it and throw it away. You have no mess to clean up.

Doug: Okay, that makes a lot of sense, so basically just to summarize here. Someone will make a small cut out with the dimensions of that box. And they could put it under their bed, in a closet, almost anyplace.

Susan: Yes, you want to use a good space, that you can’t use for anything else.

Doug: Okay. So that’s when you mount it by cutting a hole in your RV coach, but I also saw in one of your do it yourself videos, where they also explain that you can mount it in a variety of different positions and never cut any hole in your coach. Can you explain that please?

Susan: We have a set of brackets because many people consider that they may think of getting another RV coach next year and they don’t want to make investment in the vacuum cleaner and make this hole in their RV.  You can simply move it to the floor or to the ceiling of the compartment and tighten the vacuum cleaner the same way, you just tighten this first screw and then if you want to move it or take it out to some place, you just unscrew it, remove it from the bracket and use it wherever you like.

Doug: Okay, that’s it. So now that we’ve got a good summary, we can see that it is easy to install, and it’s very lightweight. I think we should talk a little bit more about the aspect you mentioned a 35ft hose, it’s really not 35ft, when you put it away, it’s only eight feet right?

Susan: That’s right, I have one here. It is like it’s a bungee cord. So, you get an 8ft hose which easy to store out of the way. There’s part of the end that you attach your wand and your cleaning tools, and you connect the other end and you’re ready. It’s very convenient.

Doug: Wow, so to recap for our viewers, and our listeners. Once you have it installed, let’s say you put it in your kitchen area or you put it in a galley area, or you put it in your bedroom, you could stretch that hose all the way to the front coach seats is that right?

Susan: That’s correct, I recommend that you try to put it in the kitchen. Which is usually where you enter the coach. The thing about that is, you get an easy installation and if you have a fifth wheeler then you’re right at the front door and you can stretch out to your third vehicle and vacuum that too.

Doug: Okay, well you know, you mention a great benefit, I think there’s another version of your central vacuum that we talked about for which there is a remote port. Can you explain that? How somebody would install that in their basement of the RV or if they have a longer coach than thirty feet?

Susan: Well, it’s more than just being able to handle a longer coach. I don’t have one here on the desk, but what we do is this. If you are in the basement and you want to vacuum that area, then there is a remote port.  There is a simple on off switch and you can still use those other vacuum ports when you go back into the living quarters.

Doug: You’ve been great you know people are going to watch this and then say, I need to find out some more information and the best place to look for it is just go on to the Internet, is that right?

Susan: That is correct, we have a lot of very good information and testimonials on our website. We try to provide as much as we can, and you can always call if you have questions.

Doug: Alright, we’re going to wrap it up, so you say you had a special offer today can you share that and then I’ll close it.
